Robert Balech is the Head of Renewable Energies at MEDCO SAL, one of Lebanon's leading energy contractors and the country's largest installer of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. He sets the division's strategy and leads its commercial growth and technical delivery across Lebanon. With over 14 years in renewable energy and business development, Mr. Balech has delivered hybrid and grid-connected solar PV plants totaling several megawatts, including medium-voltage systems with battery storage, alongside grid-integration projects. He helped build MEDCO's e-mobility business, which today spans 50 fast chargers nationwide. As one of the contractors on the UNDP-led E-Mobility Fleet project, he delivered the supply of the electric buses and the installation of their chargers, backed by solar PV and battery storage. His current work focuses on powering high-load charging sites given the constraints of the national grid, and on the economics of fast charging where the infrastructure does not yet exist.
