H.E. Haneen Sayed is the Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs, appointed to the cabinet of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in February 2025, and an economic development expert with over 30 years of global experience.   Since the outbreak of the war on March 2, 2026, she has also been leading Lebanon’s national humanitarian response, coordinating across government institutions, international organizations, humanitarian partners, and local authorities to support displaced families and affected communities across the country. Prior to joining the government, she spent more than 25 years at the World Bank, leading major reform programs and policy dialogue across four regions, with expertise in social protection, labor, education, poverty, gender, and fragility. She also served as a Senior Fellow at the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center.   Her career includes positions at Morgan Stanley, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, and teaching appointments in New York. She holds degrees from Stanford University and Columbia University, and completed executive education at Harvard University.
