Enrique Blanco Armas is the World Bank Group Country Manager for Lebanon, based in Beirut. In his current position, Enrique leads the development and implementation of the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework and other country engagement products representing IBRD, IFC and MIGA; manages the day-to-day strategic dialogue with the Government of Lebanon; supports private sector development; works in strong partnership with other multilateral partners and domestic stakeholders; provides strategic leadership to the country team and manages the Lebanon country office. Enrique joined the Bank in 2005 as a Young Professional. He has since held various positions including Manager of the Strategy and Operations Unit in the IDA Mobilization and IBRD Corporate Finance Department, Lead Economist for the Western Balkans, Lead Economist for Pakistan and Senior Economist for Mozambique and Indonesia. Before joining the World Bank, Enrique worked as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow (Mozambique and London) and in the Institute of Development Studies (Sussex). Enrique is a Spanish national and holds an MA in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in the UK and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Augsburg in Germany.
