Wissam Sammouri is an award-winning data scientist with a PhD in predictive data mining and years of experience in the field. His projects have earned several international prizes, including the French Tech International Prize, the VivaTech Positive Impact Award in Education, the European Youth Award, the Expo Dubai 2020 Grant and many others. Dr. Sammouri is the Campus Director of 42 Beirut, the tech para-university launched by CMA CGM in Lebanon in 2024, which has rapidly established itself as a national engine for tech talent and one of the most prominent 42 campuses globally. He also serves as Professor of Data Analytics at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Previously, he headed the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at the American University of Beirut and served as founding Chief Information Officer for a luxury apparel brand in Paris and New York. For more than 14 years, he has taught as full-time or adjunct faculty at several universities in Lebanon (LAU, AUB, USJ, and ENA), as well as internationally at Paris Descartes, Paris Dauphine, ECE, and Paris-Est. Throughout his academic career, he has created and delivered numerous graduate programs and courses in Data Science, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Data-Driven Digital Marketing, Data Visualization, Growth Hacking, and E-commerce Technologies. Dr. Sammouri is also the founder of several civic initiatives, including Open Data Lebanon, Lebanon Live Monitor, and the Observatory for Arabic Natural Language Processing. He serves on the boards of several organizations in Lebanon and abroad.
