UNESCO is the United Nations agency for education, science, culture, communication and information. Its Beirut Regional Office has worked with Lebanon and the wider Arab region since 1961 and currently serves Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and Syria. In Lebanon, its work includes education, digital learning, cultural heritage protection, science, youth engagement, media and information literacy, and support for the country’s cultural institutions. UNESCO also supports Lebanon’s World Heritage sites, educational initiatives and programmes linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
